This article contains information explaining why your application may be blocked if you have a paid subscription (either pay-as-you-go or committed).
For information about why applications on a free plan (such as Build, or an Open Source plan) may become blocked, and what action you can take, you can read our article about this here:
Why is my Free application blocked?
How can I tell when my application is blocked?
If your application is blocked, you'll normally be able to tell that this is the case in several different ways:
- The search on your front-end website or application will stop returning any results.
- You won't be able to access your application to make changes in your Dashboard, and you'll see a message advising you that the application has been suspended.
- Any API calls you make to your application, including routine search requests, settings updates or indexing calls, will return a 403 (HTTP forbidden) error.
An application can become blocked for several different reasons. This article outlines the most common, along with potential solutions.
If the reason for the application becoming blocked isn’t resolved promptly, Algolia may also delete your application, as laid out in our Terms of Service.
Overdue payments
If you pay for your subscription by credit card, SEPA or ACH:
we will attempt to take payment from any payment methods on file in the application owner's Algolia account every 24 hours.
Invoices with automated payments are normally valid for 16 days, unless you have agreed different payment terms with us in advance. Once the 16-day window for payment has ended, your application will become blocked if you haven't paid your invoice successfully.
If your application is blocked because an invoice has expired without completing payment, please submit a support request so that we can assist you.
If you pay for your subscription via wire transfer:
Along with automated email notifications, our Accounts Receivable team may also contact you to advise when an invoice payment has become overdue, in line with the the terms of your contract.
If your application has already been blocked for non-payment, you can contact us to advise you are arranging payment - either by replying to the Accounts Receivable team's message or by raising a new support request.
Exceeded quota for Sandbox applications
If you are on a committed plan with access to a Sandbox application, this application comes with a separate monthly usage allowance to the rest of the applications on your plan.
Once these units have been used up in each monthly billing cycle, the application will become blocked. Blocking means that you can’t add any new records to your indexes. To unblock a sandbox application, you'd normally need to wait until the start of the next monthly usage cycle, but you can contact us.
Countries or regions with restricted access
Access to Algolia services is restricted in certain countries or regions, as required by law. If you sign up for paid Algolia services from one of these countries, we may block and delete your application at any time.
Still not sure?
