Some implementations of Algolia will be reliant on the *.algolia.net SSL certificate being up to date and valid. As is best practice with SSL certificates, regular rotations of this occur, and can occur at any time without significant notice to maintain security integrity.
If you run in to errors related to SSL certificates not being valid or expired, you may need to update the certificate in your Certificate store.
It is recommended that you download the Root and Intermediate certificate, rather than relying on the *.algolia.net certificate, as these are much longer lasting and will require less manual maintenance.
In order to download the certificates:
- Navigate to https://algolia.net
- You will be re-directed to https://algolia.net/1/404. This is expected
- Dependent on your browser of choice, follow the below steps:
Chrome, Edge and other Chromium based browsers
-
In the address bar, click the symbol to the left of the URL:
-
Select "Connection is secure":
-
Select "Certificate is valid":
- Go to the "Details" tab, and select the Root certificate (the top option in the Certificate Hierarchy area):
- Once selected, click "Export..." and save the file in your preferred location.
- Repeat for the Intermediate certificate (the one directly below the Root)
Firefox
-
In the address bar, click on the padlock symbol:
-
Select "Connection secure":
-
Select "More information":
-
Select "View Certificate" in the pop-up:
-
Select the Root certificate from the top bar, and scroll down to Miscellaneous, and select PEM (cert) under "Download:
- Repeat for the Intermediate Certificate
Safari
-
After navigating to the URL, access "Safari" from your top menu, and select "Connection Security Details":
-
Click "Show Certificate":
-
Select the Root Certificate (top of the list):
- Drag the Certificate icon in to a folder in Finder
- Repeat for the Intermediate Certificate
You will then subsequently have copies of both the Root and Intermediate Certificates for *.algolia.net. These can then be added to your host's keystore following your company's IT policies, and this should resolve any expired certificate issues.
