The inventory_quantity in Algolia directly mirrors the value Shopify provides per variant, while the variants_inventory_countreflects the sum of inventory across all variants of a product.
For example, let’s say you have a “Black Shirt” with the following variants / inventory in Shopify:
Size S: 2
Size M: -3
Size L: 2
The variants_inventory_count would be a positive number for each record, but inventory_quantity would be -3 for my “Size M” variant.
A negative inventory_quantity is never expected for a product with only one variant. If you encounter this behavior, please contact the Support team to investigate.
