Algolia doesn't generate formatted usage reports for you, but the Usage API exposes the underlying figures so you can build your own.
Pick the right metric
The two search metrics return different numbers for identical traffic, so choose deliberately before you build anything:
-
total_search_requests- network calls to the search endpoint. This is what you're billed on on plans sold since March 2023. -
total_search_operations- individual queries executed by the engine. Higher than the request count wherever multi-queries are used.
The gap between them is the number of queries bundled per request, routinely three to five times on a search-as-you-type implementation. Building a cost report on the operations metric will overstate your billable usage by that factor.
Records, indexing operations, and QPS are available from the same endpoint. For the practical detail — retention, per-day granularity, and aggregating across billing periods, see How do I retrieve past search request and search operation data?
