Creating a context-only Rule or conditionless Rule deactivates some consequences.
These are the deactivated consequences:
- Pin an item
- Remove word
- Replace word
- Replace query
- Filter/Boost matching attributes
They’re deactivated because conditionless and context-only Rules don’t include a query as a condition. Conditionless Rules apply to all queries and context-only Rules can apply to a wide range of queries. The sweeping nature of these Rules is one reason to deactivate these consequences.
Why can’t you pin an item?
It can be dangerous to pin items on such a large scope. It would mean that the same item always appears in the same position, usually at the top, for all queries and all users. Instead, you could add a banner to your page promoting the item or items you want to pin.
Why can’t you remove a word, replace a word, or replace a query?
Since there’s no query in the condition, there are no words to remove or replace.
Why can’t you filter or boost matching attributes?
Rules that filter and boost facets require users to type a facet attribute into the query. Since there’s no query or facet defined in the condition, there’s no filter for the Rule to boost as a consequence.
